Wk: 9 Assignment 1: The Impact of Using Blogs on College Students' Reading Comprehension and Learning Motivation,
In the article How do Blogs impact student comprehension and motivation? Firstly, when students use their blogs to write a reflection on articles or other reading activities, this supports students metacognitively which enables understanding, analysis and the processes used to plan, monitor, and assess one’s knowledge and performance. Second, nowadays students are highly engaged and interested in technology. Therefore, with the use of technology in the classroom such as blogs, student motivation increases. Additionally, students are learning and practicing new literacy skills while using blogs. Moreover, using of technology encourages active participation which increases knowledge and retention. Third, this article points out; students are more willing to write with ICTs than conventional writing. Lastly, as stated in the article, To successfully integrate technology into the classroom; the teacher needs ongoing professional development to cover both technology and pedagogical training. Additionally, educators must teach and allow students to use new literacy skills. These skills will support students as they go out into the professional world and as they callorabrate globally with the use of ICT's.
